Tucked into Lake County’s most urban area is this island of green. A surprising array of birds, wildflowers and landscapes are found here, and the amenities are clean, safe and well designed.
Trails
The preserve offers 5 miles of trails for hiking and 4 miles of trails for bicycling and cross-country skiing. Please keep dogs leashed and on trails at all times, and pick up after them. Learn about our Off-Leash Dog Areas (permit required).
Shelters
For exclusive use of a picnic shelter, regardless of group size, a permit is required. All shelters provide a parking area, picnic tables, drinking water, toilets, and at least one grill. Most offer electricity. Many have playgrounds, playfields and trails nearby. Smoking is prohibited within 15 feet of playgrounds.

Education Programs
Teachers can enhance their classroom work with a field trip to Greenbelt. Nature education and history programs emphasize fun and adventure, and let children take a hands-on approach to nature.
Facility Rentals
The site also is home to the Greenbelt Cultural Center, a versatile facility designed with help from the public. The Center hosts community events and educational programs, and can be rented for private events and celebrations.
