A new 0.36-mile trail at Ray Lake Forest Preserve in Wauconda connects the Fort Hill Trail to scenic woodlands and a lake overlook. The project expands access, restores habitat and was funded in part by a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.

The Lake County Forest Preserves approved selling 4.7 acres at Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for $610,000. The land will add columbaria for cremated remains, extending burial space for veterans and spouses.
